We are all on Native land: A conversation about Land Acknowledgements

For anyone considering land acknowledgement topics, a virtual conversation took place at the Field Museum in Chicago on October 12, 2020, Indigenous Peoples’ Day that applies to anyone and can now be seen here. A sample Land Acknowledgement statement for those in East Bay Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts is copied below.

(Below) Debra Yepa-Pappan of the Field Museum and Heather Miller, Director of the American Indian Center in Chicago, started off the one-hour discussion.

(Below) Meranda Roberts of MerandaWritesHistory.com and Felicia Garcia of LandAcknowledgements.org continued the conversation. Felicia’s website provides a Guide to Indigenous Land and Territorial Acknowledgements for Cultural Institutions
