The World of Plymouth Plantation with Carla Gardina Pestana

Join Plimoth Patuxet Museums and the State Library of Massachusetts for a free online conversation with Carla Gardina Pestana about The World of Plymouth Plantation, as part of the State Library’s virtual author talk program which can be seen on-line in this one-hour recording. And, click here for a 2022 one-hour recording of an interview with Pestana on her book by the UCLA CMRS Center for Early Global Studies.

Beth Carroll-Horrocks, Head of Special Collections at the State Library of Massachusetts, introduced the program, and Richard Pickering, Plimoth Patuxet Museums’ Chief Historian, served as interviewer.

Going beyond the tales we learned from schoolbooks, Carla Gardina Pestana offers a new and illuminating account of life in Plymouth Plantation in her new book, The World of Plymouth Plantation.

The colonists interacted with fishermen, merchants, investors, and numerous others who passed through the region. The author drew from many sources, including William Bradford’s Of Plymouth Plantation where he described each of the passengers on the Mayflower.
