Members of the Pokanoket Tribe were invited to Mt. Hope Farm on Saturday, May 7, 2022 to display their artifacts and to perform a number of songs for the gathering. Click here for an eight-minute video of their performances.

Tribe member Dana Voss joined the gathering for the morning to drum along with the other members.

Sachem “Dancing Star” Tracey Brown showed Laura Banks-Ordone (left) and others how the Pokanokets use turtle shells as calendars since they have 13 segments that match the lunar calendar.

Darlene “Mourning Star” Spencer plays a hand drum in the tent next to a wetu frame that was built at the Farm and is kept there.
