The “Our” Story: 400 Years of Wampanoag History Exhibit, was displayed at the Stephen Roberts ’62 Campus Center on the Brown University campus in Providence from April 15th to May 5th, 2019.
The traveling exhibit tells the story of the Pilgrims who landed in Plymouth in 1620 in the Native voice. “It was designed to bring to light key legacies of America’s earliest beginnings from the Wampanoag perspective, a voice largely silenced in the colonial narrative.” [from www.pllymouth400inc.org/OurStory}
The exhibit was set up on the lower floor of the Stephen Roberts ’62 Campus Center at 75 Waterman Street on the Brown University campus in Providence, RI. One three-minute video in the interactive exhibit tells the story of the Mayflower from the Native perspective.
Another three-minute video in the interactive exhibit portrays the Massasoit Ousamequan as he might have reflected on the changes that the Pilgrims brought to his tribe.
