Eastern Medicine Singers at the Warren, RI Walkabout

The Eastern Medicine Singers offered two hours of drumming, singing and dancing at the Warren, RI Walkabout event on October 24, 2021 as one of many events that day. The Eastern Medicine Singers are dedicated to keeping the eastern woodlands American Indian culture alive. Click here for a 14-minute video of their performance.

Dozens of onlookers gathered in front of the Methodist Church in Warren to watch a performance of the Calumet Dance (above and below) by Dean Running Deer Robinson.

The Pocasset Wampanoag Tribe is a member of the original Pokanoket Federation led by Massasoit, otherwise known as Ousamequin (Yellow Feather). The Warren Town Council voted to approve a Land Acknowledgement statement for the Pokanoket Tribe on July 13, 2021 .

The Warren Walkabout began 20 years ago as an annual event to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy all that Warren has to offer and to support local restaurants and business establishments in the community.
