Sowams Heritage Area Project Coordinator Dr. David Weed was introduced by Seekonk Town Planner to the Select Board on September 28, 2023. In his seven-minute presentation, Weed described what a National Heritage Area is and how it could help to address economic development, tourism, education and environmental efforts in the nine-town region of which Seekonk is a part. He invited Board members to attend one of two upcoming community conversations that will be held in mid-October at which a national consulting team will be present to talk about the project and to respond to questions.
