The Sowams Heritage Area Project, Inc. sponsored a Business Forum on the Economic Development Case for establishing a National Sowams Heritage Area held at the East Providence Public Library on October 27, 2021.Participants in the Forum included Blackstone Valley Tourism Council President Robert Billington, RI Tourism Director Mark Brodeur , and Kristen Adamo, Pres. & CEO of the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau. Two board members and eight officials from the Sowams Heritage Arrea communities participated in an hour-long discussion following the keynote presentation and panel responses. All agreed to continue the discussion and planning process through next year to explore how a Heritage Area could be put in place through legislation. Click here for a 50-minute video of the forum.
