Sowams Heritage Area Project Coordinator Dave Weed and East Providence Historical Society Co-chair Nancy Moore met with Roger Lincoln and Michael Markley of the Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe at the Hunt House Museum in East Providence. The tribe is one of several, along with the Pokanoket Tribe, who lived in the Sowams Heritage Area, primarily around what today are the towns of East Providence, Seekonk and Rehoboth. The group explored ways that the tribe could be included on the SowamsHeritageArea.org website and in other ways to describe the history of the tribe and their current activities.
