Representatives of seven of the eight participating communities in the Sowams Heritage Area Project met for the first time to talk about the upcoming launch event in September. People from Bristol, Barrington, East Providence, Providence, Seekonk, Swansea, and Warren convened at the Barrington Public Library to discuss strategies for making a public announcement about the new Heritage Area that would connect with people in each community. The launch will begin on September 9th at an Open House at Hunt’s Mills in East Providence and then be continued throughout the fall at various public events including festivals, farmers’ market, and historical talks as well as on cable television. The expectation is that at least 5,000 people will have heard about the project by the time the launch is concluded at the end of November.
