NPS Ranger John McNiff presents Roger Williams

On June 16, 2019, National Park Service Ranger John McNiff presented Roger Williams as he may have appeared almost 400 years ago at the place he settled in 1636. McNiff told the Williams’ story from his point of view and in his native English accent, describing Williams’ life in England before he came to New England where he befriended the Natives and defied the English authorities. The event ended with a walk to the Weybosset Bridge, where Williams served briefly as toll taker in 1660, and a visit to the Visitors’ Center on North Main Street. Click here for a 52-minute video of his presentation and here for an 18-minute video of the Q & A that followed.
